Oppo– the Chinese smartphone maker that has made its name through its selfie-focused cameras and high-end specs at the mid-range price is coming out with its latest device- Oppo F7, today. If you want to join the live action, follow this link for the live streaming of the launch event. So far we know that amid a range of its peers, what makes this device special is the iPhone X-like notch- which along with a body-to-screen ratio of 89.09 percent and the almost bezel-less design, looks very close to Apple’s flagship albeit available at a quarter of its price. And it’s not just the look, the much talked about Animoji too gets a spin-off in the form of AR stickers. Also, given that it runs on the latest version of Android, it will also support the PiP mode.
As for the other specs, while there is nothing confirmed at this point, previous leaks have painted a pretty solid picture of the device. The phone is tipped to sport a 6.2-inch full-HD+ display of 1080×2280 resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. Powered by MediaTek Helio P60 SoC with 6GB of RAM alongside, the device looks pretty solid on paper but the actual performance can only be gauged once it’s out in the market.
Now coming to optics- the USP of the brand, the phone boasts a 25MP selfie shooter with HDR and AI Beauty Technology 2.0 for picture-perfect selfies. The rear camera has a 16MP sensor with dual-tone LED flash and is capable of recording 4K videos as well. The device is expected to run Android 8.0 based ColorOS 5.0- company’s custom skin out-of-the-box with features like facial unlock and screen recording. Backed by a decent 3400mAh battery, the phone promises to last 15 hours on a single charge.
While pricing is tough to guess before the launch, we expect it to be priced somewhere close to Vivo V9- the recently launched device that competes in the same market with similar specs. As the device is priced at 22,290 INR, the Oppo F7 too will probably remain below the 25K ceiling. We have another piece of news, and that too sounds assertive – is that unlike most of the other vendors, the phone will be immediately available for purchase after the launch.
So, that’s all we know of the device for now and given that it is all based on previous leaks, though there might be some deviations. Watch the launch for yourself and you tell us things we got right and what we missed.
