Xiaomi Redmi Y1, Redmi Y1 Lite Sold out in 3 Minutes

Xiaomi, that went from 0 to capturing 23% of the Indian smartphone market within 3 years, seems to have found the nerve of Indian consumers. The latest proof of it came today when its new line of selfie phones- Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite went on sale and made whopping sales within 3 minutes. In a tweet, the company later disclosed that it sold 150K units in the said period but hasn’t posted when the phones will be again available.

The phones, launched earlier this month on 2 November, were touted as the first selfie phone from the company. Packing an impressive 16MP front-camera and running on new MIUI 9, Redmi Y1 has received fairly good reviews and fits perfectly in the category of ‘value for money.’.

Both the phones come with 5.5-inch HD display and 13MP rear camera. Under the hood, Redmi Y1 runs on Snapdragon 435 SoC and is available in 3GB+32GB/ 4GB+64GB variants. Whereas the lite version runs on Snapdragon 425 SoC and comes with 2GB+16GB memory. Both the devices are powered by a 3080 mAh battery and are available in gold and dark gray color options.

As for the price, the 3GB variant will cost you Rs. 8,999 while the one with 4GB RAM is priced at Rs. 10,999. You can purchase the Lite version for just Rs. 6,999.
